Once upon a time a woman named Tee Tee baked 26 loaves of bread and placed them inside a bag to take to market. She set off on the shortcut through the forest. Suddenly, a figure dashed past her and into the dense brush to her right. The figure ran so fast, she barely saw him, but she was certain she spotted hooves and a scraggly beard. That was it, then. She had seen Papa Bois, the legendary protector of the forest. "Help! I have trouble," Tee Tee screamed, and she started to run. From the highest treetop, Monkey watched her, curious. He wondered what this trouble was."Trouble!" Tee Tee cried again as she tripped over a big root. She fell, and her bag of bread spilled onto the ground. Just then she saw another flash of hooves.
